“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” – Carl Young

The above mentioned phrase summarises my life philosophies & ideas. Psychology did not just happen to me. I chose to become a psychologist. My passion and need for understanding & decoding the complexities of human mind & behaviour is what drives and amuses me every single day. Being born under the Pisces Zodiac sign, was the perfect indicator for me that it was destined for me to choose human service to help people with abundance of compassion & listening ability that I am blessed with.

Academically my first Master’s Degree is M.Com in Organisational Behaviour. It was Carl Jung’s book on dream analysis “Man and his Symbols” that got me pursuing my dream of being able to be instrumental in people’s lives and help them identify & follow their most significant dreams. My official encounter with psychology was in a workshop of drawing analysis & decoding visual metaphors called “Metaphor Therapy” by renowned Psychotherapist Mrs. Kirti Bakshi after which there was no looking back. I loved every bit of the subject and my guru cum mentor provided the perfect support for exploring, learning and gaining a deeper understanding of the subject. Under her guidance I did my certification in Child & Teenage Psychology, Applied Psychology and started my counselling practice.

I took up my second post-graduation and earned a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Indira Gandhi Open National University, Delhi. During the program, I got to intern with India’s leading & renowned Psychiatrist, Dr. Sachin Patkar at Masina Parsi Hospital. Training under him over 2 years has helped me mature in my understanding, sharpen my diagnostics & counselling skills to take my passion to the next level.

Over the years, I learned various courses to further my understanding of psychotherapy and empower myself to counsel people for their issues using various therapies & techniques such as Hypnotherapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and so on.

With growing virtual world & internet becoming integral part of human lives, I found very keen liking in Cyber psychology which is the study of the human mind in its interactions with machines & technology. My 15 years of experience in IT industry and web domain combined with my experience & study of human psychology helps me understand the technical as well as psychological aspects of the cyber space (the internet space). I have been actively studying the differential behaviour of individuals in cyber space which helps me decode the psyche behind cyber-crimes & its effect on cyber-crime victims. With the growing screen time & internet usage, it was a natural course for me to get trained as an Internet Addiction Therapist.

In 2016, I founded an anti-cyberbullying organisation CYBER B.A.A.P. – Cyberbullying Awareness Action & Prevention to help the victims of online harassment & bullying with counselling & guidance to report.
